On October 30, 2018, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte signed the Republic Act No. 11108 renaming the Bicol Sanitarium to Bicol Region General Hospital and Geriatric Medical Center.
The Act shall provide for the upgrading of the existing health care services and increase in bed capacity for the general services with specialized care for the ageing population, as well as center for research and development in the field of geriatic medicine in the Bicol region.
